Our September meeting was so exciting with a ton of new faces — our meeting room was full almost to capacity! (Lots of people were still wandering around at this point. :} )
Business was much lighter after the expo; we went over these items:
- Holiday fabric basket swap (details in Current Sewing and the Facebook group)
- Board elections coming up in November! Nominations open now; email nominate@oahumodernquiltguild.com to nominate yourself or another member. Must have been a member for 6 months in order to become a board member. Executive Officer Duties
- Reminder that the guild currently offers members free webpage ad space for their quilting-related business. Info in Guild Resources and the Facebook group.

After that, Trinia did an amazing screen printing demonstration! She showed us how to develop our own screens with computer-printed transparencies and a light based process, and then showed an alternative using sticky vinyl and craft cutters like the Silhouette. She also passed around samples of her own screen printed fabric, which were beautiful! She also provided a list of the affordable and easily-obtainable supplies that she uses to do her own screen printing.

During show and tell, new member Leslie shared her adorable Noodlehead 241 Tote.
Then Trinia showed us the three minis she was inspired to sew after her epic tour through eighty-jillion mainland quilt shops. π
Mai shared her Oh Fransson-tastic mini, quilt, and quilt top!
New member Sharon wowed us with her intricately pieced quilt top…
… and then completely blew us away with her beautiful self-designed rainbow spiral quilt top! There were also gorgeous paper-pieced stars meant to go in the corners and center, but I didn’t manage to get good pictures of them. >_<
Finally, new member Joan shared her two baby quilts and cracked us up joking about those 10-minute blocks. π
We finished up the meeting by handing out the mixed up fat quarters from our Cotton + Steel swap. Almost everyone participated so it was a big success, and we even made some Cotton + Steel converts! It might be a little hard to tell, but this is a Poolside Tote full of the fat quarter packs we redistributed… I should have just grabbed it and ran out the door! π
