We are having a general meeting On September 19, 2018 at the Aiea Public Library meeting room from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Come and join us and learn more about quilting and meet people who are passionate about it. We talk about quilt ideas, have a show and tell to highlight our work, and in general have fun.
Women’s Expo September 2018
We will be at the Women Expo at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition hall on September 7-9, 2018. We will be showing a bunch of fabulous quilts sewn by our members. Come by to come see us and our quilts and talk to us about our experience in the wide world of quilting. You can also sign up as a member (Special discount of $25 during the Expo).
Book Club Begins
We’ve talked about it for several months now. We have our book. And finally, we have a plan. The Oahu Modern Quilt Guild Book Club is official.
Fourteen intrepid members signed up for the inaugural group. We all voted and chose Rebecca Bryan’s Modern Triangle Quilts as our first book. Now, for the next few months we’ll be reading, practicing our triangles, and participating in a super-fun sew along.
If you missed the sign-up, but find yourself intrigued by this scintillating blog post, it’s not too late to join. Best of all, it’s free for guild members. You just have to purchase your own book.
For more information, contact the moderator, Amy Cook, at programming@oahumodernquiltguild.com.
Hope to hear from you soon.

August 25-27 retreat
Our very first retreat was amazing! We stayed at the beautiful Windward Retreat Center, and meals were deliciously catered by Gourmet Day Catering.
Our retreat swag was beyond wonderful, with patterns generously donated by Elizabeth Hartman and Alison Glass!
We spent all of the daylight hours and most of the night sewing — there were only a few hours in the night when someone wasn’t at a machine.
Val taught us to make fabric beads and shoe-holders that look like shorts!
We also snacked, chatted, snacked, and laughed a lot! For more pictures from our retreat, take a peek at #oahumqgretreat on instagram. 🙂
