Free motion quilting by a member

Look at the exquisite detail on these quilts!

Creative, gorgeous, superb, and just plain WOW were a few words used to describe the quilts shown by Oahu Modern Quilt Guild Member, Ruth D. when we all saw her quilts that were showcased in our member spotlight section.  Look at the exquisite detail in the free motion quilting. If only you were there to see it in person. Ruth said she plans out the quilting before hand and then quilts with her sewing machine (a Janome) that is NOT a long arm

Other people showed their quilts, just look at the cute penguin quilt by Jackie M, and the boy oriented baby quilt done by Paula T. to donate to Kapiolani Medical Center.

We had a wonderful video about negative space from the Modern Quilt Guild website (one of member benefits).

Get a look at our freebie table. This time there were actual bolts of fabric that each member could cut and take home, This is another member benefit.

Our next general meeting is on April 20, 2022 at Halawa District Park from 6:30pm – 7:30 pm. We will try to have a zoom component for those unable to attend in person.  If you’re interested in attending in person and are not already a member, please email us to ask if there is room at the venue. The first meeting is complimentary. Email us communications@oahumodernquiltguild.com for more information.

We will have a “Sew’n” day on April 30, 2022 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe. This is for members only. We are encouraging everyone to bring their UFOs, WIPs to work on, or any other project they would like.  We would also like to ask everyone to bring their “orphan blocks” for a fun exchange.
